Review:

I love my Nook smut!  Furthermore, I LOVE this series!  I hadn’t really heard of Lorelei James until my mom told me I HAD to read this series!  Now I’m kicking myself that I waited so long to check this authors books out!

At the start of this book Channing has basically run away from the pre-planned life that her parents have set up for her.  Channing’s idea of adventure is chasing the rodeo and it turns out that Channing’s first traveling partner is a slime ball.  Enter our white knight, Colby McKay and his traveling partner’s Trevor Glanzer and Edgar Mancuso.  Colby offer’s Channing the adventure that she’s been looking for and Channing, how is completely attracted to Colby, can’t help but jump at the chance.

What really attracted me to this book was that everything wasn’t what it seemed with a couple of the characters.  That and Colby McKay is a total Alpha male with a practically insatiable sexual appetite.  As the 4 amigo’s roll along everyone learns a little something about each other. Which as the story progresses makes things very interesting.

Sexually, pretty much anything goes in Long Hard Ride.  At times Colby was a little bit TO Alpha for me but it seems that just when I wanted to write him off as an ass he did something to redeem himself to me.  I will say this, it does get a little wild at times. 

Overall, this isn’t my absolute favorite book in the series but it most definitely was a great start to a fascinating series.

Review:

Our main character, Ana, was never meant to be born to the Range.  On the Range the people have been reincarnated over and over again for thousands of years.  Then Ana comes along and is born in place of one of the million souls who have been reincarnated since the very beginning.  There are those who view Ana’s birth as a sign of a new age.  Then there are those like Ana’s very own mother who view her birth as a sign of the end.  It’s very unfortunate that Ana is born into such an unforgiving world.  In Incarnate Ana will face many things like dragons, assassins, and dangerous shadow creatures just to name a few.  But Ana has her friend Sam there to help her and with his help she might even make it and learn why she even exists.

If you are a reader who enjoys reading dystopian novels you should enjoy Incarnate.  The authors writing style is very understandable without being “in your face” obvious.  The world that the author has created is of a place that is trying to move forward and keep itself protected in an unbelievably cruel environment.

Ms. Meadows has most definitely earned this 5/5 review.  This author’s idea alone is really unlike anything that I have heard of much less read about recently in YA literature.  Each and every character has their own very unique personality.  Without giving anything away, our main character is very dynamic.  definitely MVP of Incarnate.  I can hardly wait to see how this series progresses and can hardly wait to get my hands on book #2.

ARC Review ~ Crossed by Ally Condie

Review:

I thought that this book was really pretty good.  Though I think in a few places Crossed dragged on a little bit.  Nothing to terrible, just enough to keep it from getting a 5 star rating.

I think that as this series progresses Cassia just keeps getting stronger.  Though I have to admit that there wasn’t much in the way of the “love triangle” in this book, meaning there wasn’t many Xander sightings in this book.  I’m hoping he has a greater presence in book 3. The book is narrated by Cassia and Ky in alternating chapters.  I did enjoy learning more about Ky.

Overall, I was really impressed with Crossed.  The world that has been built-in these pages are beautifully described.  I also really liked how the narration flows with such fluidity that I couldn’t help but keep reading.  I think that Crossed is a really good follow-up to Matched and I can hardly wait to see how this series ends!

This is the second book I’ve read in Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series and I think I have a Dark Hunter addiction! Sin’s a real bad ass who’s been doing things pretty much on his own since Artemis took his godhood from him, trusting almost no one and looking to extract revenge on Artemis. Then Artemis catches him doing “something bad” and calls upon Katra to go and kill Sin only to find out that the “something bad” Artemis saw him doing was actually something good. See the Sumerian gallu are days away from escaping their prision and when they do escape they plan to liberate the Dimme and that pretty much means the end of humanity unless Sin and a small army can stop them.

 

Oh and then there’s Artemis’ BIG secret that she kept from Acheron! Not going to give that one away though. Gonna have to read the book to find out what that is.

 

I really like how Kenyon wrote this story. Big ole bad ass Sin getting verbally slapped around by little ole Kat….Good times. The fight scenes were GREAT in my opinion too. All the characters, even the not SO good ones, were written in a way that made them all at least a little bit likeable. Oh and then there is the sex….those scenes were written really great too! Just saying.

This is the first book that I’ve ever read by this author. I liked it but I didn’t really LOVE it. Ravyn and Susan are both characters that are dealing with some extra “baggage” shall we say. Susan is this reporter who always get’s her story (which has cost her dearly) but at the same time has a pretty quirky sense of humor (which you see a lot in the book) and Ravyn he’s pretty much a no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn’t particularly care to be around humans at all because they have cost him dearly. Well now that the Daimons (with the help of some humans) are trying to kill both Susan AND Ravyn they are kind of stuck with one another. The more time they spend together the more that we the readers learn about these two character’s pasts…Not a pretty picture. There is even a little twist thrown in for good measure too. If you like a little Death, Destruction and Mayhem with some smutt thrown in this is a good book to check out.

Review:

I really LOVED this book.  What I really LOVED about this book was how it was told from dual points of view, ala Simone Elkeles books.  I really connected with the main characters June and Day.  Our hero Day is considered a fugitive by the Republic and he is homeless and lives on the streets with an orphan that he has befriended and takes care of named Tess. 

Our heroine June on the other hand is sort of a child prodigy and is in the process of finding her place in the Republic.  Then her brother is tragically murdered and June goes looking for answers.  All the information that she has leads her right to Day.  And what follows is a roller coaster ride of heartache, action, betrayal, romance and so many twists and turns you won’t know up from down….I mean that in a good way of course.

There were a few things that were pretty predictable about the book but I did not feel that it detracted from the story itself at all.  I felt like the slight predictability of those few things actually heightened the anticipation and flow of the story for me personally.

Like with pretty much all (there are a few exceptions to the rule I’m sure) there is a lot of tragedy in Legend.  But you keep rooting for June, Day and a VERY select few secondary characters.

Overall, I was BEYOND extremely happy with the book.  I most definitely will be counting down the days until the sequel is released.  Is it time yet!?

Review:

My mom turned me on to this series.  She has a Kindle so it’s her “Kindle Smut” and I have a Nook so it’s my “Nook Smut.”  I’ve read another book in this series (Cowgirl Up and Ride) and I really enjoyed that book a lot.  So I downloaded a few more books in the Rough Rider’s series onto my Nook and I’ve been tearing through them.  I was really excited about Jack and Keely’s story.  A true opposites attract story and they most definitely are compatible sexually as well.

Keely has been known through out this series up to this point as a “Wild Child” but going to All Jacked Up she does something very grown up, buying a building with the hopes of opening her own clinic.  There is a slight problem though.  She has bought a historic building and has to jump through a bunch of hoops with the Wyoming Historical committee before her renovations can even start to take place.

Enter Alpha male Jack Donahue stage right….

 Jack is an architect who is certified to do historical restorations by historical committee’s.  It also turns out that Jack and Keely pretty much hate each other as well.  But Jack and Keely both need something from one another in order to get ahead in their life/career.  Jack really wants a restoration job in Utah but his marital status or lack thereof puts him out of the running.  Keely needs Jack to sign off on her project so her clinic can be more than a pipe dream.

Enter the con stage left where Jack and Keely pretend to be engaged to each other….

The fighting and banter between Jack and Keely was pretty funny for the most part.  Even with all the fighting and miscommunications that take place, feelings start to change.  I really liked that even when Jack and Keely were at their worst they always seemed to come back to one another.  You could tell from the beginning that when these two “got together” it was going to be EXPLOSIVE and it most definitely was.

I think that my favorite part of the whole book was when Keely’s brother’s go looking for her after their confrontation with Jack.  It’s a pretty “caveman” scene but it’s one of my favorites.

The sex in this book is pretty incredible.  Jack is most definitely an Alpha male in the sexual department.  If you’re not into incredibly hot sex between a sexy as hell architect and a ranching dynasty’s heiress skip this book, heck skip this series all together, but if you’re looking for some spice…Definately check out this book and this series.

Review:

I read this book not all that long ago, it was recommended to me by another of my co-workers, they read it in her book club and she REALLY liked it.  I was really drawn into this book. This is the 5th book in John Sandford’s “Lucas Davenport” series….There are close to 20 books in this series now.

What I really liked about this book is that it kept you guessing. You thought you knew who “done it” but in the end you were oh so very wrong. I really enjoyed the characters as well. Lucas is one of those guys that’s “been there done that” and helps out with this case reluctantly. The “Ice Man” as the killer is called is one sick puppy, that will do just about anything to get this 1 photograph back. The preacher, did he or didn’t he? The Dr. is really the only person involved that knows who did it, unbeknownst to her. The local law enforcement…well they sound like your typical “fish out of water” when it comes to this particular case. The plot was in my opinion AWESOME….but then again this is the first book by this particular author that I have read. It was so good that I finished this 400 page book in a few short hours….Once I got started I just could not stop!

Review:

I didn’t really like the prologue in this story.  I think it kind of detracted from the rest of the book a little bit.  But not really enough to detract from its rating. I’ve noticed a lot of comments about the prologue in reviews I’ve read so I was aware that it was there.

What I really liked about this story is that it’s a pretty emotional story.  There’s heartbreak, triumph and a whole mess of other emotions thrown in too. There are BIG changes that happen for both families AND the ranch in this story.

Jessi McKay was married to Luke McKay for a while.  Luke turned out to be a world-class asshole who is killed in a car accident but not before fathering a child with another woman.  After Luke was killed Jessi leaned pretty heavily on Luke’s brother Brandt for support.

But Brandt has other idea’s….

Brandt has been in love with Jessi for a long time. And his brother’s behavior toward Jessi and their marriage put a terrible strain on Brandt and Luke’s relationship.  approximately 10 months or so before the story takes place Brandt confesses to Jessi that he has more than “friendly” feelings towards Jessi. Jessi isn’t ready for a relationship yet and cut’s Brandt off at the pass.

Then Landon, Luke’s illegitimate child with another woman, enters the picture. Brandt begs Jessi to help him with Landon while Landon’s mom is doing time in jail for her second DUI.  In the beginning Jessi really doesn’t want to…AT ALL.  But in the end she helps Brandt out after he agree’s to her conditions.  In the beginning Jessi and Brandt are really nothing more than parenting partners but then Jessi’s feelings for Brandt start to change.  That is when Jessi tells Brandt that she wants to add sex to the mix.  Thus beginning another round of REALLY INCREDIBLY HOT McKay sex.  Side Note: Personal favorite scene…The Pear scene.

When Brandt FINALLY gets what he’s wanted for a VERY long time, Jessi madly in love with him, his father Casper issues an ultimatum which puts Brandt into a fit of rage.  It’s a little bit scary to see how far his father can push him over the edge.  But this is also where Jessi learns a little bit of a lesson: sometimes when you really want something bad you can’t just sit around waiting for it, you have to go and get it.

Review:

I found Lorelei James’ webpage the other day…that is were I went “wrong.”  As always I found very useful information on Ms. James’ wepage…the next installment of this really HOT series will be available on December 6.  But getting back to the book at hand.

Our heroine Amy Jo Foster, or AJ, has been in love with Cord McKay since she’s been 5 years old.  The problem is that Cord has always just thought of her as his little sisters best friend.  So things weren’t looking to good on the romance front for AJ.  That’s when AJ makes up her mind to in a sense “play dirty” to get her man.

Cord McKay is a divorced rancher who is 13 years AJ’s senior.  Add in the fact that Cord is still dealing with the fact that his ex-wife just picked-up, packed-up and walked out on him.  Leaving him to be mom and dad to their infant son.  As a result of his ex-wife, Cord has pretty much sworn off of women and love all together.

That is until AJ makes him an offer he can’t refuse.  See AJ is innocent in so many ways and wants Cord to “educate” her specifically in the area of sex.  Cord lays down the law in his domineering way and that is when Cord and AJ start setting the sheets, barn, truck and various other places on fire. Personal favorite sex scene is the popsicle scene! For me, it’s up there with “Chapter 32” in the Night Huntress series.

With all the INTENSE sexual action that takes place in this book there were a lot of light-hearted scenes to take the edge off as well.  One of my favorite scenes is Liza’s Bachelorette party.  I laughed out loud it was sooo funny.

Another thing that I really liked about this book was that there was a side story going on that builds up to the next book in the series.  I really liked that aspect a lot.  Can hardly wait to get my hands on Kade’s story!
