Review:

I love my Nook smut!  Furthermore, I LOVE this series!  I hadn’t really heard of Lorelei James until my mom told me I HAD to read this series!  Now I’m kicking myself that I waited so long to check this authors books out!

At the start of this book Channing has basically run away from the pre-planned life that her parents have set up for her.  Channing’s idea of adventure is chasing the rodeo and it turns out that Channing’s first traveling partner is a slime ball.  Enter our white knight, Colby McKay and his traveling partner’s Trevor Glanzer and Edgar Mancuso.  Colby offer’s Channing the adventure that she’s been looking for and Channing, how is completely attracted to Colby, can’t help but jump at the chance.

What really attracted me to this book was that everything wasn’t what it seemed with a couple of the characters.  That and Colby McKay is a total Alpha male with a practically insatiable sexual appetite.  As the 4 amigo’s roll along everyone learns a little something about each other. Which as the story progresses makes things very interesting.

Sexually, pretty much anything goes in Long Hard Ride.  At times Colby was a little bit TO Alpha for me but it seems that just when I wanted to write him off as an ass he did something to redeem himself to me.  I will say this, it does get a little wild at times.

Overall, this isn’t my absolute favorite book in the series but it most definitely was a great start to a fascinating series.

Synopsis:

Pulling off the ultimate con…if they can keep from pulling off their clothes.

Rough Riders, Book 8

Keely McKay knows Jack—and Jack Donohue is a certified pain in her Wranglers. The lone girl in the prolific McKay family, Keely needs another man giving her orders like she needs a hole in her boot. What she does need is a restoration specialist so she can open her physical therapy clinic—and prove she’s left her wild-child days behind. That means dealing with buttoned-down, uptight Jack.

Jack is this close to securing a career make-or-break project, until he learns his lack of marital status puts him out of contention. When the notoriously hot-tempered and hot-bodied Keely begs him for help, he proposes a crazy idea. He’ll oversee her project—if she acts the part of his loving fiancée.

Their sizzling lust makes it all too easy to go from butting heads to knocking boots—but outside the bedroom they’re as mismatched as ever. The McKays remind Jack of the humble upbringing he left behind, and cowgirl Keely feels she doesn’t measure up to Jack’s big-city lifestyle.

When the dust settles, Jack and Keely must face the fact they’re not fooling anyone but themselves—or they’ll risk losing the real deal.

Warning: this book contains one hot-blooded cowgirl and one cool-headed businessman in a stripped-down, revved-up game of sexual truth or dare.

Review:

My mom turned me on to this series.  She has a Kindle so it’s her “Kindle Smut” and I have a Nook so it’s my “Nook Smut.”  I’ve read another book in this series (Cowgirl Up and Ride) and I really enjoyed that book a lot.  So I downloaded a few more books in the Rough Rider’s series onto my Nook and I’ve been tearing through them.  I was really excited about Jack and Keely’s story.  A true opposites attract story and they most definitely are compatible sexually as well.

Keely has been known through out this series up to this point as a “Wild Child” but going to All Jacked Up she does something very grown up, buying a building with the hopes of opening her own clinic.  There is a slight problem though.  She has bought a historic building and has to jump through a bunch of hoops with the Wyoming Historical committee before her renovations can even start to take place.

Enter Alpha male Jack Donahue stage right….

Jack is an architect who is certified to do historical restorations by historical committee’s.  It also turns out that Jack and Keely pretty much hate each other as well.  But Jack and Keely both need something from one another in order to get ahead in their life/career.  Jack really wants a restoration job in Utah but his marital status or lack thereof puts him out of the running.  Keely needs Jack to sign off on her project so her clinic can be more than a pipe dream.

Enter the con stage left where Jack and Keely pretend to be engaged to each other….

The fighting and banter between Jack and Keely was pretty funny for the most part.  Even with all the fighting and miscommunications that take place, feelings start to change.  I really liked that even when Jack and Keely were at their worst they always seemed to come back to one another.  You could tell from the beginning that when these two “got together” it was going to be EXPLOSIVE and it most definitely was.

I think that my favorite part of the whole book was when Keely’s brother’s go looking for her after their confrontation with Jack.  It’s a pretty “caveman” scene but it’s one of my favorites.

The sex in this book is pretty incredible.  Jack is most definitely an Alpha male in the sexual department.  If you’re not into incredibly hot sex between a sexy as hell architect and a ranching dynasty’s heiress skip this book, heck skip this series all together, but if you’re looking for some spice…Definately check out this book and this series.

Synopsis:

Good girls can play rough too…

Rough Riders, Book 10

Jessie McKay has accepted her marriage to Luke McKay wasn’t perfect. After two years of widowhood, she’s ready to kick up her bootheels—until Luke’s younger brother shows up to spoil her fun. But if Brandt thinks she’ll ever take orders from another McKay male, he’s got manure for brains.

Brandt McKay has avoided his sweet, sexy sister-in-law ever since the night he confessed his feelings for her weren’t the brotherly type. Unexpectedly faced with proof of Luke’s infidelity, Brandt is forced to ask for Jessie’s help in taking care of Luke’s young son. Jessie agrees on one condition—she wants Brandt’s boots exclusively under her bed for the duration.

The sexual heat that’s always simmered between them ignites. Brandt is determined to make the temporary situation permanent, proving to Jessie he’s a one-woman man. And Jessie is shaken by feelings she’s sworn never to have again for any man…especially not a McKay.

Warning: Contains branding-iron-hot sex , the one McKay on earth who wants to be tamed, and a woman who’s decided tame is for nice girls who finish last.

Review:

I didn’t really like the prologue in this story.  I think it kind of detracted from the rest of the book a little bit.  But not really enough to detract from its rating. I’ve noticed a lot of comments about the prologue in reviews I’ve read so I was aware that it was there.

What I really liked about this story is that it’s a pretty emotional story.  There’s heartbreak, triumph and a whole mess of other emotions thrown in too. There are BIG changes that happen for both families AND the ranch in this story.

Jessi McKay was married to Luke McKay for a while.  Luke turned out to be a world-class asshole who is killed in a car accident but not before fathering a child with another woman.  After Luke was killed Jessi leaned pretty heavily on Luke’s brother Brandt for support.

But Brandt has other idea’s….

Brandt has been in love with Jessi for a long time. And his brother’s behavior toward Jessi and their marriage put a terrible strain on Brandt and Luke’s relationship.  approximately 10 months or so before the story takes place Brandt confesses to Jessi that he has more than “friendly” feelings towards Jessi. Jessi isn’t ready for a relationship yet and cut’s Brandt off at the pass.

Then Landon, Luke’s illegitimate child with another woman, enters the picture. Brandt begs Jessi to help him with Landon while Landon’s mom is doing time in jail for her second DUI.  In the beginning Jessi really doesn’t want to…AT ALL.  But in the end she helps Brandt out after he agree’s to her conditions.  In the beginning Jessi and Brandt are really nothing more than parenting partners but then Jessi’s feelings for Brandt start to change.  That is when Jessi tells Brandt that she wants to add sex to the mix.  Thus beginning another round of REALLY INCREDIBLY HOT McKay sex.  Side Note: Personal favorite scene…The Pear scene.

When Brandt FINALLY gets what he’s wanted for a VERY long time, Jessi madly in love with him, his father Casper issues an ultimatum which puts Brandt into a fit of rage.  It’s a little bit scary to see how far his father can push him over the edge.  But this is also where Jessi learns a little bit of a lesson: sometimes when you really want something bad you can’t just sit around waiting for it, you have to go and get it.

Synopsis:

Ridin the edge of lust is fun until someone falls in love.

A Rough Riders book.

Goody-two boots AJ Foster has waited her entire life for her dream cowboy Cord McKay to see her as more than the neighbor girl in pigtails. Now that she?s old enough to stake her claim on him, she?s pulling out all the sexual stops and riding hell-bent for leather?straight for his libido.

Divorced rancher Cord has sworn off all women until innocent AJ suggests he teach her how to ride bareback and he realizes she doesn’t mean horses or bulls. Between his responsibilities running his massive ranch, missing his young son and dealing with the sexual shenanigans of his brother and cousins, Cord is more than willing to take AJ up on her offer. On a trial basis.

The fun and games tie them both up in knots. AJ isn’t willing to settle for less than the whole shootin match with her western knight. But for Cord, even though the sexy cowgirl sets his blood ablaze, he?s determined to resist her efforts to lasso his battered heart.

Sweet, determined AJ has the power to heal or heel the gruff cowboy unless Cord’s pride keeps him from admitting their relationship is more than a simple roll in the hay.

Warning: this book contains: raunchy sex scenes that’ll work you into a lather faster than a winded horse, graphic language, resourceful use of baling twine, menage a trois, menage a quatage, and yippee! hot nekkid man-on-man-lovin’.

Review:

I found Lorelei James’ webpage the other day…that is were I went “wrong.”  As always I found very useful information on Ms. James’ wepage…the next installment of this really HOT series will be available on December 6.  But getting back to the book at hand.

Our heroine Amy Jo Foster, or AJ, has been in love with Cord McKay since she’s been 5 years old.  The problem is that Cord has always just thought of her as his little sisters best friend.  So things weren’t looking to good on the romance front for AJ.  That’s when AJ makes up her mind to in a sense “play dirty” to get her man.

Cord McKay is a divorced rancher who is 13 years AJ’s senior.  Add in the fact that Cord is still dealing with the fact that his ex-wife just picked-up, packed-up and walked out on him.  Leaving him to be mom and dad to their infant son.  As a result of his ex-wife, Cord has pretty much sworn off of women and love all together.

That is until AJ makes him an offer he can’t refuse.  See AJ is innocent in so many ways and wants Cord to “educate” her specifically in the area of sex.  Cord lays down the law in his domineering way and that is when Cord and AJ start setting the sheets, barn, truck and various other places on fire. Personal favorite sex scene is the popsicle scene! For me, it’s up there with “Chapter 32” in the Night Huntress series.

With all the INTENSE sexual action that takes place in this book there were a lot of light-hearted scenes to take the edge off as well.  One of my favorite scenes is Liza’s Bachelorette party.  I laughed out loud it was sooo funny.

Another thing that I really liked about this book was that there was a side story going on that builds up to the next book in the series.  I really liked that aspect a lot.  Can hardly wait to get my hands on Kade’s story!

If you aren’t into REALLY INCREDIBLY HOT SEX (sometimes raunchy) and graphic language, then this book isn’t for you. If you are and you haven’t read anything by this author, do so RIGHT NOW!

Review:

I want to thank The Fiction Vixen for turning me on to this book.  I found out about Turn It Up via a review that I found on The Fiction Vixen blog.  FV gave the book an A- but I had to give this one 5/5.  There was only one small part of the story that I was lukewarm on but it wasn’t enough to detract from the rating.

Charlie has been “Honeypot” on her radio show – Honeypot and Dr. Love – for as long as she can remember.  The best part of the scenario is that she gets to do the show with her BFF Bastian a really hot Doctor.  Then Bastian goes and changes up the very foundation of their relationship by telling her that he wants to be more than just her friend…That he’s IN love with her and actually wants to marry her.  This is the part where Charlie starts to freak out.  The the real “fun and games” begin when Bastian announces on the air to all their listeners that he wants to marry her but Charlie takes it in stride and issues the challenge that she thinks they’ll end up sleeping together before they ever even think about getting married.  Thus beginning the battle of the sexes.

I LOVED this story.  Once I downloaded it onto my Nook and opened it up I didn’t put it down until I was done reading it.  Turn It Up is one of those books that sucks you in and doesn’t let go.  The only part of the book that I was lukewarm on was “the kiss,” you’ll have to read Turn It Up in order to find out what I’m talking about. One of my favorite aspects of the story was all of the sexual innuendos that were sent flying left and right by all parties.  I spent a good portion of my reading time giggling because of it.  I thought that it was really sweet and enduring that Bastian wanted to get married and build a life with Charlie and show her that he’s not like every other guy in her past.  All while Charlie is doing her dangdest to get in his pants and find out what kind of lover he really is.

There were a couple of times I thought that Charlie was a little over the top but then you learn about her past and it all makes sense.  I viewed Bastian as the rock that keeps her sane, even with the battle of the sexes raging on.  The secondary characters I thought were fabulous.  I hope that Bastian’s little brother gets his own story soon.

Too bad Tara’s not interested in getting to know football’s most notorious playboy any better.

Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn’t intend to put herself out there again, especially with a heartbreaker like Mick.

First Line: “Sweat dripped down Mick Riley’s face and arms.”

Review:

I have been wanting to get my hands on a copy of this book for a while now and so when I finally got tired of waiting I downloaded a copy onto my Barnes and Noble Nook.  Honestly, what first drew me to this book was the cover…Yeah I want me some of that right there!  Where can I find a hot, sweaty football player?!  Once I got started reading I got completely sucked into the story right away.  And OH BOY is this one HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT!  Not only because of hunka hunka burnin’ love Mick either! 😉

The chemistry between Mick and Tara is explosive almost right from the beginning and only continues to build as their relationship grows.  Tara is a very strong leading lady, she’s been dealt some hard knocks pretty from the get go in life and she’s just gotten stronger as a result.  She’s also the kind leading lady who, as much as she is REALLY enjoying the really great mind-blowing sex she’s having with Mick, she puts her son first.  YEAH! For AWESOME single moms!  Mick is our leading man, who despite what Tara sees (perfection) he does in fact have a flaw, to some it’s a pretty big one too.

Liz, Mick’s agent, is written as the villain of the story. In the end I think that she thought her heart was in the right place, even though it was still a pretty low thing to do. Even the queen of ‘cold’ has a soft side…and it comes in the form of Mick’s little brother Gavin.  I think that Jaci did an excellent job of building up to Liz and Gavin’s story and I can hardly wait to start reading that book too!
